Leo Cubbin from English Electric

Hello John,

I was in one of the many bands that recorded in your studio back in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

Our first session was in 1979 (I think) and our band was called “English Electric” or we may not have even had a name. I’ve attached a couple of photos from that session. One of them has a lady on who may have been related to you?? I’m the guy with the glasses behind her and the guy immediately behind her is called Phil Burns.

We went back into Cargo a year or 2 later and did a session with Colin Richardson. The band was called “Redline” then and we nearly signed with Factory. We did 2 Granada TV sessions but sadly the band folded after a 6 month courtship with A&M records.

Phil Burns and I went on to set up our own recording studio in New Brighton called “Station House”. It was in the old Station Master’s house at New Brighton Station and was a great little 8 track.
